The Beloit Mindset List

When I look at this list I see many things that I have no clue about. Many are about things, places, and people I've never even heard about but, there are also many that i can relate to. The list is very interesting and has a variety of different things.

3  items that i related to most.
-27. Computers have never lacked a CD-ROM disk drive.
-57. A purple dinosaur has always supplanted Barney Google and Barney Fife.
-62. Having hundreds of cable channels but nothing to watch has always been normal.

I don't know if I have ever seen a computer without a CD-ROM disk drive. When they came without them my family couldn't afford them. When they became affordable to all of America they included the drive. I remember not a lot of people used the drives because the floppy disk was the popular choice. Now computers are only built with CD-ROM and lack floppy disks.

The famous purple dinosaur Barney was always a favorite of mine. It was one of my favorite shows growing up. Don't worry though Barney Fife is a close second. My mom was very old school and loved the Andy Griffith show. It was a classic and I'm very glad she made us watch it.

I can relate to this last one the most. Cable television and having hundreds of channels are the most common things. It's amazing that the world could even live without it. (sarcasm) Technology is an ever changing and growing thing, it keeps you wanting more and will always evolve and improve. So we embrace it and with that comes 500 channels and nothing to watch. There is always something to watch just not the something we want to be watching at that min.

3 things I disagree with.

1.Few in class know how to write in cursive.
28. They've never recognized pointing to their wrist was a request for the time of day.
35. Once got through security, going to the airport has always resembled going to the mall.

I know how and very often use cursive hand writing. Everyone in my forth grade class learned to write in cursive. It is probably not something that is used very often but I can fully write everything in cursive.

We were not handed cell phones for a long time. The cell phone was just becoming something every teenager wanted and or needed when I was in about fifth grade. Even then parents didn't just hand them out like candy the way they do now. It was something you needed to earn, achieve, or need desperately. That being said, cool watches were a very popular thing throughout middle school. Wrist pointing is definitely a universal what time is it sign.

I lived through 9/11. After that day going into an airport was never the same. I can honestly say there is know way I could walk into an airport like it was the mall. Things have drastically changed and will stay like that for a very long period of time.

Going through the list was a good read and was very interesting. There were some discrepancies that could be made but it was very informative. I am sure that many others my age can relate to the list. It seems weird to look back and think about all of the stuff we've lived through. Hopefully we all have many more years to live through and will be able to reflect on the many more people, places, and things that are changing everyday.
