When I look at this list I see many things that I have no clue about. Many are about things, places, and people I've never even heard about but, there are also many that i can relate to. The list is very interesting and has a variety of different things.
3 items that i related to most.
-27. Computers have never lacked a CD-ROM disk drive.
-57. A purple dinosaur has always supplanted Barney Google and Barney Fife.
-62. Having hundreds of cable channels but nothing to watch has always been normal.
I don't know if I have ever seen a computer without a CD-ROM disk drive. When they came without them my family couldn't afford them. When they became affordable to all of America they included the drive. I remember not a lot of people used the drives because the floppy disk was the popular choice. Now computers are only built with CD-ROM and lack floppy disks.
The famous purple dinosaur Barney was always a favorite of mine. It was one of my favorite shows growing up. Don't worry though Barney Fife is a close second. My mom was very old school and loved the Andy Griffith show. It was a classic and I'm very glad she made us watch it.
I can relate to this last one the most. Cable television and having hundreds of channels are the most common things. It's amazing that the world could even live without it. (sarcasm) Technology is an ever changing and growing thing, it keeps you wanting more and will always evolve and improve. So we embrace it and with that comes 500 channels and nothing to watch. There is always something to watch just not the something we want to be watching at that min.
3 things I disagree with.
1.Few in class know how to write in cursive.
28. They've never recognized pointing to their wrist was a request for the time of day.
35. Once got through security, going to the airport has always resembled going to the mall.
I know how and very often use cursive hand writing. Everyone in my forth grade class learned to write in cursive. It is probably not something that is used very often but I can fully write everything in cursive.
We were not handed cell phones for a long time. The cell phone was just becoming something every teenager wanted and or needed when I was in about fifth grade. Even then parents didn't just hand them out like candy the way they do now. It was something you needed to earn, achieve, or need desperately. That being said, cool watches were a very popular thing throughout middle school. Wrist pointing is definitely a universal what time is it sign.
I lived through 9/11. After that day going into an airport was never the same. I can honestly say there is know way I could walk into an airport like it was the mall. Things have drastically changed and will stay like that for a very long period of time.
Going through the list was a good read and was very interesting. There were some discrepancies that could be made but it was very informative. I am sure that many others my age can relate to the list. It seems weird to look back and think about all of the stuff we've lived through. Hopefully we all have many more years to live through and will be able to reflect on the many more people, places, and things that are changing everyday.
I also think its wayyyy weird! So since I'm the only one that hasn't been on an airplane I can't properly judge that statement. But to me it seems obvious that it would not be like walking into a mall. Like..duh..lol things have drastically changed like you said.
ReplyDeleteThis is almost like the way I think. The airport one I still think is like a mall. You can get food, clothes, and even souvenirs. I mean yeah a mall of course is different in a set up, but what actually is the difference? You can walk up and down an air port and come out with Laptops and Ipods. It was a fun blog to read though!
ReplyDeleteI agree with your comment about the airport to an extent, but in the later years since 9/11 the security has been relaxed some. And as Chad said in his comment, you can now come from the airport with crazy items! I definitely agree with your first 3 and the one about pointing to your wrist for the time. Who doesn't know what that means?!
ReplyDeleteI agreeeeeeeeeeee. :))))) I really dislike airport security alot, it takes way too much time to get thru and they check everything to see if it is potentially a "bomb", bu ti guess it all works out in the end cuz they mostly catch all the bad guys that would do something like that.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on several points in your blog! I also grew up watching the purple dinasour Barney. Everyone in my graduating high school class knows how to fully write in cursive, and an airport has never resembled a mall to me. Very good blog!
ReplyDeleteI like that you list your points and then put your comments afterwards. It makes for a very nice, clean layout, and it helps to make your points really stand out. Well written blog.
ReplyDeleteToo keep it short because commenting on everybody's blog is making my head spin trying to keep straight who said what. I liked your blog, and agree with the fact it is an eye opener, though I believe its an eye opener in different ways for different people.
ReplyDeletei loved barney too!! and, again like i've said on others, i think most of us were 'shocked' about the comment on the watch and cursive.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with you on most of your blog entry. My parent's tell me I was a Barney fan...but I just can't quite remember those days :)
ReplyDeleteI highly disagree with them saying that we don't write in cursive. We all had to learn it in forth grade, its just that most people of our generation don't like to use it. When they say that we all don't write in cursive it makes our generation sound very unintelligent!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on cursive. I remember being forced to learn cursive in fourth grade, and I still know some letters in cursive. Great list. It's well structured.
