Diversity Event Reflection
The diversity event I attended was Invisible Child. My roomate and I attended the seminar together. She is very passionate about this kind of thing but I didn't know much about it. First we watched a documentary, it followed 3 teens on their trip to Uganda as they helped kids in east Africa that have been affected by the war. The documentary was made by the Face-to-Face program. They raise money to fund the Invisible Children Legacy Scholarhip and to build new schools for the children. The documentary its self was very very eye-opening. You could just see the hurt in the childrens eyes and could almost feel all the pain they were feeling. You can go to http://www.invisiblechildren.com/ to donate money or buy a product they have. Not only did we get to watch the documentary but Asimwe Proscovia spoke to us. She was apart of the scholarchip program. Hearing her story was so amazing. It gives you hope that things are getting better over in Africa. That maybe more and more children like her can have the chance to do something great. I am extremely glad I went to this diversity event, it opened my eyes to so much that you don't hear about.
